Every so often I come across an exceptionally beautiful property and in 2006 it was Villa ll Gioiello, a jewel of a house indeed! The interiors are wonderful! The owner’s exquisite good taste and ability to seek out some beautiful objects, artefacts, fabrics and furniture is extraordinary. The high quality interiors include many antiques. The skilful decor, combined with many comfortable lounge areas, a large dining room and a huge winter garden with billiard table, create a warm and welcoming home.

Il Gioiello sleeps 16 adults comfortably. It has eight double bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Elegantly furnished living areas open out to the garden for dining al fresco and to stunning views over the valley. The immediate garden area is surrounded by small walls with climbing roses and vines. On one side there is the entrance into an open courtyard area; on the other side is a huge swimming pool.

Accommodation
On the ground floor is the spacious fully equipped kitchen, in a charming country style, with washing machine, dishwasher, 5-ring cooker and large fridge with freezer; a bathroom on this level with tub, living room with satellite TV and where it is possible to listen to music, and a gorgeous large room running across the width of the house called the winter garden, with billiard table and beautiful plants and three picture windows with marvellous views across the valley.

On the first level is a study, another small kitchen/breakfast room and four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.

On the second level there are two bedrooms with four single beds and one bathroom opening to the hallway.

Two double bedrooms are located in a separate building on the other side of the courtyard. These rooms have a comfortable queensize bed and each has a private bathroom with shower. Beside these rooms there is a sauna and hydromassage bath 2x 2 (heated and available in winter too) and a gymnasium.

Recently restored to the highest standard, you will enjoy a deluxe country house in the beautiful Val D’Orcia in the South-Eastern part of the Siena province in Tuscany, a region of famous wines, medieval towns, Renaissance art treasures, castles, monasteries and spa towns with healing water already enjoyed in the Roman times.

The location is ideal for visiting many interesting sites at a short distance. The nearest places of interest are Pienza, only 10 minutes away and Montepulciano 15 minutes away. Montalcino, Siena, Perugia, Orvieto and Cortona can be reached in less than one hour. The villa is also one and half hours from Florence and two hours from Rome. Near the villa there are beautiful walking and cycle paths and cypress lined country roads. Local towns for shops and restaurants are within reach.

Since this is a working farm producing olive oil and wine, there is a managing couple living privately on site. He looks after the farm activities and she is responsible for the upkeep of the house and daily cleaning services. She is also a wonderful cook, I'm told, and guests have the opportunity of having meals prepared. A welcome Tuscan dinner is included in the weekly rate. Start up grocery shopping can be ordered prior to arrival.

 This year special rates for a maximum of 12 people are available and two double bedrooms will be closed and unavailable for guests.
