Il Casale di Celsa is a lovely home situated within a Castle estate in the rolling green hills near the city of Siena. This estate has remained intact since the Middle Ages and is enhanced by a marvelous view overlooking one of the most beautiful areas of Tuscany. The exclusive Castello di Celsa, owned by the princely Aldobrandini family, lies fourteen kilometers south-east of Siena. It is within easy reach of such cultural gems as Florence, San Gimignano, Volterra and the Chianti area. Lucca, Pisa and Arezzo are about one and a half hours by car and Perugia, Orvieto and Assisi are equally easy day trips.
Celsa has the stuff that dreams are made of. A castle with turrets surrounded by a formal garden, a Renaissance chapel and a beautifully converted conservatory where lemon trees in terracotta vases were kept in winter – now our accommodation - look across the valley towards the skyline of Siena, surrounded by 250 hectares of land.
The Castello di Celsa is one of Italy’s best kept secrets as it is not open to the public, but those fortunate enough to go there are invariably awed by the sheer elegance of its interiors and the mystique that surrounds the place which has not surprisingly been featured in a number of books and publications on the beauties of Tuscany.
The true beauty of Celsa lies in its silence and the spectacular view over the surrounding countryside, at a stone’s throw from the magical city of Siena, a landscape that has not changed for centuries.
The former Limonaia, now a listed landmark builsing has recently been restored and furnished with an exquisite sense of harmony, space and comfort and offers guests complete privacy. Many distinguished people, such as Tony Blair and George Bush, have enjoyed a sojourn here.
Guests will be delighted with its sun filled rooms and various areas for relaxing and entertaining both inside and outdoors. There is a tennis court on the estate and a private swimming pool on a terraced area with irrigated lawns surrounding it. On the estate is a chapel designed by the renowned architect Baldassare Peruzzi.
The ground floor consists of a spacious sitting room with French windows, a dining room that sits twelve, a comfortable country kitchen flooded with sunshine where guests like to have breakfast, and a single bedroom with bathroom.
Glass doors lead from the living room and the kitchen onto a charming terraced garden with a pergola for outdoor meals, a large pool and spectacular views towards the skyline of Siena. Old fashioned musk roses, rosemary bushes, cyandrus, yellow broom and blue tinged sage fill the air with their fragrances on the landscaped grounds. There is a sheltered terrace for outdoor meals and comfortable pool furniture for relaxing. Also available is a pool house with changing facilities.
Antique furniture, the muted colored walls, the comfortable furniture, all blend harmoniously with the well-proportioned architectural features of the house. The house has first class equipment, up market cutlery, crockery and glassware, embroidered bath towels and luxurious bed linens.
The pool is for the exclusive use of guests. There is also a tennis court on the premises.

Staff
