Villa Smeralda is a perfect example of the fascinating 19th century Italian lake architecture. Set in the lively lake resort town of Belgirate, the villa has been recently and very carefully restored by the current owner. Outside, the garden offers many lovely areas for relaxing in the shade or sunning by the heated pool (9.5 x 4 metres).

The villa has a lovely view overlooking the lake. It is decorated with beautiful antiques and furnished with every modern convenience such as satellite TV, internet connection, stereo CD player. The English speaking owner lives 200m away; she will meet you at arrival and help you get settled. The housekeepers live separately and privately in the property and are on hand for excellent service to the guests. The wife provides daily breakfast and cleaning services. The husband tends the pool and grounds.

Something special is a the restored 1960's handcrafted mahogany boat which comes with a captain and is available on request according to the weather conditions.

This stylish, elegantly furnished property is located between Arona and Stresa. Surrounded by a beautiful private park of approximately 8000 sqmt the villa is just a five minutes walk from the lakeside village of Belgirate allowing guests the convenience of restaurants, post office, and local shopping. As with all in-town houses, the sound of people and traffic may be heard. The total surface of the house is 700 sqmt and can accommodate a maximum of 12 people.


Accommodation
The villa is spread over three levels: Entry is from the garden into the ground floor comprised of three beautifully furnished living rooms running along the length of the house and joined by archways, with a magnficent view of the garden; a formal dining-room, a fully-equipped kitchen and a guest bathroom. The salon has glass doors opening onto a delightful 20 sq mt covered loggia (sitting above the front garden due to the sloping hillside) and furnished and equipped for outdoor lunches and dinners. There are comfortable armchairs and sofas allowing you to enjoy the views over the lake.

At the first level there are six lovely bedrooms, one with king size bed and ensuite bathroom (tub), three with a queen size bed, one with twin beds and one single bedroom. Each bedroom is charmingly decorated. There are three more bathrooms on this same floor: one has a bathtub, one has a shower and the last one has both shower and bathtub.

On the top floor is a large library/study room giving access to the panoramic terrace (furnished with sofa and armchairs), large master bedroom with frescoed ceiling, 3 ensuite bathrooms (1 with basin and tub, one with toilette, one with basin and marble shower) kitchenette corner.

There are portable air conditioning appliances in each bedroom.

The maximum number of people that will be accommodated is 12 and although there are beds for 13 people we prefer not to exceed 12 persons.


Villa Smeralda is extremely well appointed and tastefully decorated with comfortable sofas and armchairs, beautiful paintings, and ancient family furnishings.

Sheets and towels provided twice a week. Housekeeping 6 h. x day (Monday to Saturday). Continental breakfast served from 8 am to 10 am, Monday to Saturday. Cook service at dinner (from 7.30 pm to 9.00 pm)
