TEOLO, near PADUA

At a glance

Ca’ Contea is a charming family home near Padova close to the village of Teolo in the Euganei hills. It is set on two floors covering a total of 400 sq mt. The exterior façade is in stone with two verandas from one of which you enter the kitchen and from the other into the spacious dining room.

On the ground floor we find a large kitchen with fireplace, refrigerator with ice maker, oven and dishwasher. The kitchen is equipped with various small appliances such as blender, juicer, CD player etc. The owner is a keen cook and likes to invite friends to dinner so the kitchen is very well-equipped.

The kitchen leads into the dining room which has a table for 14 people and a second door from the kitchen takes us to a living room/lobby with a fireplace. This room is furnished with an antique sofa and two armchairs and it opens into another living room which also has a lovely fireplace and the TV. There is a small bathroom on this floor.

On the upper floor at the top of the stairs to the right is a small single bedroom. Two small steps lead into a corridor from which open three more very charming bedrooms. The first is a very spacious room with a canopied queensize bed, an armchair and large antique wardrobe. It has two windows with a lovely view to the garden. The other two bedrooms are twin bedrooms. Ceilings are all wood-beamed and very high. Off the corridor opposite the bedrooms are two bathrooms with shower and on one side is a study.

In the garden in front of the house is a small building with a wood-fired oven (once upon a time the entire village came here to bake their bread!), and the hen house which nowadays is a storage shed.

In one of the verandas is a large square table for outdoor dining and the other veranda has deck chairs and a large hammock for relaxing.

The house has been totally restored and the floors of the ground floor are in antique terracotta, while all floors on the upper floor and in wood. Some of the internal walls have been left with the old stones on view to create the old atmosphere. All furniture is antique except for sofas and chairs. This is a warm and inviting family home which offers a comfortable and relaxing location for a wonderful holiday.

Padova is 20 km away and the village of Teolo is at 1 km, Vicenza 38 km. There are two beautiful golf courses nearby, Golf Club Frassanelle and Golf Club La Montecchia. There are also thermal baths at Montegrotto Terme at 12 km and the renowned thermal and beauty spa centre of Abano is a short drive. Venice is 70 km. It is very easy to reach Venice by taking a train from Padua. It's about 15 minutes.
