Mas La Bijou is an ancient recently restored farmhouse which was built in 1673. It is located at the foot of the Alpilles range close to the medieval village of Les Baux de Provence and between the villages of Maussane les Alpilles and Mouries, which are two of the largest olive oil producing centres in France.

This beautiful holiday rental house in Provence dates from 1673. It enjoys great privacy with over seven acres of grounds through which you can walk and view the colour and ambience of this wonderful part of Provence. It is located at the foot of the Alpilles range close to the medieval village of Les Baux de Provence and between the villages of Maussane les Alpilles and Mouries - two of the largest olive oil producing centres in France.

The accommodation in this provencal rental house is outstanding. There are five large air-conditioned bedrooms, all with private ensuite bathrooms, and two beautifully furnished 'salons'. The house is centrally heated throughout. The dining room overlooks the rear gardens through a conservatory styled area close to the modern kitchen which is fully equipped in a traditional Provencal style. There is a large study off one of the bedrooms, with a covered terrace overlooking the rear gardens.

A number of outside terraces enable you to relax and enjoy the fine views of the gardens with its olive groves, irises, and lavender which are typical of this ancient region. And there's a superb secluded 12 metre swimming pool with diving board where you can experience the natural tranquility of Mas La Bijou in complete privacy. You can enjoy the Provencal game of "petanque" on the boules pitch under the pine trees, or simply take in a leisurely walk exploring the terrain.

Living Rooms - there are two separate salons with quality furnishings enabling privacy when needed. The house is centrally heated throughout. SKY satellite television is available with over 100 English speaking channels as well as a selection of French channels, and the house has wireless internet capability - you can bring your laptop if you can't holiday away from the web and email.

Bedrooms - five large air-conditioned bedrooms restored to the highest standards, all with private ensuite bathrooms and tastefully decorated with quality furnishings. (view bedroom)

Kitchen and dining - there's a fully equipped modern kitchen in a traditional Provencal style. The dining room overlooks the rear gardens through a conservatory-styled area close to the kitchen. (view kitchen)

Study - there is a large study off one of the bedrooms with a covered terrace overlooking the rear gardens.

Outside Terraces - there are a number of outside terraces enabling you to relax and enjoy the views of the gardens and olive groves.

The Grounds - the house is situated on 7.5 acres of grounds highlighting the colour and character of the Alpilles. The olive trees, irises, and lavender are typical of this ancient region. Enjoy the Provencal game of "petanque" on the boules pitch under the pine trees or simply take in a leisurely walk exploring the terrain. The grounds, pool, ponds and terrace areas are spectacularly illuminated at night.

Swimming Pool - enjoy the tranquility of the secluded 12 metre swimming pool with diving board.

Equipment - fully-furnished, Satellite TV with over 100 channels, wireless internet connection, two flat screen LCD televisions, DVD player, CD player, washing machine, dryer, steam iron, microwave, baby hi-chair, and baby cot. Appointments included in the price: cleaning and maintenance (once per week): linen, towels, cutlery, air-conditioning and heating. Pets are welcome.

Current restoration of the barn will provide further sleeping accommodation for 4 people.

The Area
Les Baux de Provence - just a 5 minute drive from Mas La Bijou, your rental house in Provence - is officially classified and labelled as "one of the most beautiful villages in France". The medieval village has a wonderful selection of shops selling Provencal products as well as several restaurants with excellent reputations. A little further afield is Saint Remy de Provence, a charming village with beautifully restored old houses surrounded by lush countryside. The traditional Wednesday morning market in St Remy is renowned throughout Provence, and the beauty of the local countryside and quality of light inspired Vincent Van Gogh to produce more than 250 paintings around Arles and St Remy.

In addition to the area surrounding Mas La Bijou being so richly endowed in beautiful villages and historic regional towns such as Arles and Avignon, there's also a wide variety of local attractions including several golf courses, and daily outdoor Provencal street markets world-renowned for their atmosphere, their colours, their food, and their bargains.
