Le JasBONNIEUXAt a glance
The Luberon Valley, renowned for its beautiful scenery and picturesque hillside villages, lies between the crest of the Luberon hills and the stony peak of the Mont Ventoux. The Bergerie was once the old sheepfold of a typical provencal farmhouse set amidst biologically farmed vineyards, cherry orchards and lavender fields. Beautifully restored by the owners, the simplicity of traditional materials and the charm of country antiques combine with every modern convenience to make you feel immediately 'at home' . The owners, a retired architect and his wife, live next door in the main house, but the bergerie is completely private with its own entrance. The owners are always on hand for any information or assistance guests may require. They look after the maintenance of the garden and pool and use the pool occasionally in a discreet way which does not affect guests' privacy or enjoyment of the pool area. The shady covered terrace, the centre of life at the Bergerie, is equipped with a summer kitchen and a built-in barbecue. It is comfortably furnished with wrought iron tables and basket chairs with lots of cushions for relaxed outdoor living. The living room is open plan with a fully equipped kitchen overlooking the covered terrace. The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, dishwasher, four gas burners, electric oven, micro-wave and a variety of small kitchen appliances. There are two bedrooms, side by side, each with twin beds (possibility of one pair made into king size bed) and private bathrooms: bath with shower, wash basin and toilet. There is also one smaller independent room with twin beds and shower room with washbasin and toilet. A fourth bedroom in the main house with independent entrance, twin beds and shower room is available for an extra charge either by the week or by night, min 3 nights. The thick old stone walls act as a natural cooler so there is no need for air-conditioning. Shaded by a treillis of Banksia roses, all rooms face south and open directly onto the garden and pool. Pool: In accordance with French law, 2004, the pool is protected by two electronic alarms, the action of which is your responsibility, but if you have young children the owners can install on request a fence around the pool for extra security. However we would point out that no security system is infallible and we strongly ask parents to survey their children very closely at all times when around the pool. The owners reserve the right to use the pool but they use this with the utmost discretion. Amenities include hair dryer, satellite TV, DVD, books, brochures and maps to make your stay more enjoyable. Washing machine and drying facilities in the garden. The rent includes the cost of utilities, all linen including pool towels and weekly housekeeping or final cleaning every Saturday. As there is no telephone available, guests should bring their own mobile phone. Nearby Colourful markets are the very essence of Provence; the famous antique and brocante market is held every weekend at Isle sur Sorge. The vineyards of neighbouring Château Les Eydins ; the Cotes du Rhône Villages and the renowned Châteauneuf-du-Pape are all within reach of an easy day trip. Local restaurants offer an authentic provencal cuisine. Spectacular trails for walking, biking and horseback riding in the Luberon Regional Park; or an adventurous tree top walk. Tennis 3 kms; Golf 20 kms. Children: Children are very welcome and we can offer considerable choice of equipment for babies and young children. However we regret that we cannot accept family pets except under very special circumstances as a dog and two cats live on the property. A Taxe de Sejour of Eu 7 per person per week is payable upon the spot (children under 13 excluded).
